Dark rum mount gay

Home / gay topics / Dark rum mount gay

On first sip, I tasted toffee, burnt caramel, and a hint of banana. There is no added sugar, it has a natural sweetness to it. My husband and I tried some neat and compared to some other rums we've had, found it a bit harsh. Technically, the Distillery is independent, but Rémy Cointreau is a majority shareholder of the facility and controls the Mount Gay brand — and they do a very good job leaving them alone to create their brand of Caribbean magic.

Mount Gay XO has been around for a while… but then again it is brand new.

It’s worth the money. The taste is smooth and perfect in a mixed drink. No wonder it’s been around for 300 years, it’s better.

Not as sweet as most rums

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We enjoyed trying Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum.

It does have a strong alcohol taste and aroma of bourbon/whiskey since it was matured in both casks. I added a bit of coconut water and it was incredibly smooth. But what I can tell you is that if you have an ounce of pirate in your blood, you’ll ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS RUM. I’m writing this review cause I’m on my second bottle of this delicious dram. Smooth with the bite that you'd expect from a good bourbon.

I definitely recommend it for those wanting a good rum.

Love rum

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time you were able and I didn’t have a chance I poured some of this and don’t regret it.

Definitely would recommend. The label lists a gingerbread, lychee and toffee notes and I def taste them. Definitely prefer to my standard spiced rum options.

Deep flavors

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very complex rum.

I really enjoyed trying the Mount Gay Black Barrel Double Cask Blend Rum. It is a very good sipping rum, it does have a strong bourbon flavor so it is not for those that don’t like bourbon. You can taste the oak and some sweetness such as vanilla or caramel at first sip. Mount Gay is not only the oldest Rum Distillery on the island, it is documented to be the oldest Rum Distillery in the world with land title papers stretching all the way back to 1703.

In my opinion, this is a fine mixing rum but not so well as a sipping rum.

Great tasting Caribbean rum

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m normally not a big rum drinker, but this one is great even by itself.

I bought it at total wine.
